Creating a Multi Model Google Site
Day 5 of our DFI course embraced the creation of a multi model google site, using collaborative skills, within our teams, as we researched the theme 'Garden with Science'. Creating a 'Garden to Table' vegetable project for our learners at school.
An emphasis was placed on the importance of offering a selection of alternatives for the children to choose from, when learning, whereby they are engaged and enthusiastic about the topic, showing a greater willingness to participate. It was acknowledged that all children respond differently to learning tools, language and stimuli. Thus as teachers, we need to be in a position to offer a wide selection of learning material to entice our boys and girls. The multi model tool is an excellent example of a resource, to experiment within the classroom.
Preparing the individual buttons for our multi model learning site was time consuming and a little frustrating.
It was interesting to view the selection of material used on various subjects and discovering what appealed to the DFI cohort - we each liked and disliked different images, styles, fonts and layouts. However - there was a general consensus that the brighter, exciting, colourful multi model sites will be captivating and able to hook the learner.
In order to become increasingly confident with the digital mechanisms introduced - ongoing practice and experimentation is required.
